چکیده

Non-thermal TeV γ-ray emission within a multiparsec has been observed from the center region of our Galaxy. We argue that these γ-rays are the result of transient activity of the massive black hole Sgr A that resides at the Galactic Center. Several thousand years ago, the black hole may have experienced an active phase by capturing a red giant star and forming an accretion disk, temporarily behaving like an active galactic nucleus. A powerful jet, which contains plenty of high speed protons, was launched during the process. These runaway protons interact with the dense ambient medium, producing TeV γ-ray emission through the π-decay process. We show that the total energy deposited in this way is large enough to account for observations. The diffusion length of protons is also consistent with the observed size of the TeV source. A Possible Link between the Galactic Center Hess Source

Recently, HESS and other air Čerenkov telescopes have detected a source of TeV γ-rays coincident with the Galactic center. It is not yet clear whether the γ-rays are produced via leptonic or hadronic processes, so it is important to consider possible acceleration sites for the charged particles which produce the γ-rays. One exciting possibility for the origin of these particles is the central b...

Production of Tev Gamma-radiation in the Vicinity of the Supermassive Black Hole in the Giant Radiogalaxy

Although the giant radiogalaxy M 87 harbors many distinct regions of broad-band nonthermal emission, the recently reported fast variability of TeV γ-rays from M 87 on a timescale of days strongly constrains the range of speculations concerning the possible sites and scenarios of particle acceleration responsible for the observed TeV emission. A natural production site of this radiation is the i...

Annihilation Emission from the Galactic Black Hole

Both diffuse high energy gamma-rays and an extended electron-positron annihilation line emission have been observed in the Galactic Center (GC) region. Although X-ray observations indicate that the galactic black hole Sgr A is inactive now, we suggest that Sgr A can become active when a captured star is tidally disrupted and matter is accreted into the black hole. As a consequence the galactic ...
